Why You Need Wedding Pictures During Golden Hour

What’s Golden Hour?

Golden hour refers to the hour after sunrise or the hour before sunset, these two times of the day provide the absolute best lighting. Obviously, taking pictures at sunrise on your wedding day would be quite difficult, so most couples’ only option for golden hour pictures is to take them at sunset. Depending on the time of year, this usually means couples will need to take these pictures during their reception. Just sneaking out for 10-15 minutes during dinner can allow couples to take full advantage of golden hour and get some of the greatest wedding pictures imaginable.

Top 3 Reasons to consider taking pictures during Golden Hour:

  1. After a long day, it makes a great time for a break for just the bride and groom to get away for a few moments alone.
  2. You’ll end up with a greater variety of pictures overall.
  3. JUST LOOK AT THAT LIGHTING – check out all of these gorgeous couples soaking up that golden hour glow!

What if Golden Hour isn’t an Option?

We completely understand that it’s not always possible for our couples to accommodate golden hour pictures and in some cases, the weather may rule out golden hour pictures altogether. Obviously, if there’s no sun, there’s no golden hour! Luckily we bring along some tools that can help us replicate that golden hour glow in less than ideal circumstances… so if this is something that you dream about, but the timing doesn’t line up or the weather makes it impossible, make sure you talk to us and we’ll take care of you!!

Christina and Jacob ended up with a wedding evening full of storm clouds chasing away the light, leaving us with a dull sunset-free dusk period. Because they had their hearts set on some quick sunset pictures, they decided to trust us to set something up to mimic that golden hour glow. Luckily, we’re in the business of making our couples happy (make sure your photographer knows what you wan!), so here’s what we got…

Totally worth it, if we do say so ourselves!!
