What Style of Wedding Photography is Right for You?

Are you a Light & Airy fan or do you prefer the Dark & Moody look? These are the two most popular editing style trends in the wedding photo world right now. Maybe one of these trends is right for you or maybe you’re looking for something that’s a little bit more you. We get it. In fact, we’ve spent years developing and perfecting our own unique signature style of editing and it isn’t light and airy OR dark and moody. Instead, our style features some of our favorite aspects of both trends along with our personal bright and bold touch to complete the process. To help walk you through each of these styles, we’ve put together some images edited in each style along with a quick list of characteristics for each style.

There are lots of choices when it comes to your wedding photography – and that’s okay! Couples should understand the style of editing to expect from their photographer and the final result should align with your vision (and make you endlessly happy). Choose the style that your heart loves!

LIGHT & AIRY

  • Overexposed (very bright with lots of whites)
  • Brighter colors
  • Blown out skies (you typically won’t see clouds in the skies, but rather a white canvas)
  • Not a lot of contrast
  • Pictures feel “light and airy”

BRIGHT & BOLD (*OUR STYLE*)

  • Even exposure (we like darks to be dark and brights to be bright – we LOVE skies with clouds!)
  • Deep, rich colors that are true to life
  • Just enough contrast for pictures to pop
  • Not overly filtered
  • Pictures feel realistic

DARK & MOODY

  • Underexposed (lots of shadows)
  • Muted colors
  • Not a lot of contrast
  • Pictures feel very dramatic and moody

We truly believe each of these styles is beautiful in its own way and it’s up to every couple to decide which look fits their overall vision best. There’s a style out there for everyone, so if you have something in mind, don’t give up until you find the photographer who can give that to you!
